Capital One is looking for a creative and dynamic communicator with experience executing and supporting integrated, consumer-facing PR programs and thought leadership campaigns. This role will help support Capital One Canada’s business. This position requires strong written and verbal communication skills, demonstrated experience executing programs with highly measurable results, and a solid understanding of the Canadian media landscape.
Assist in the execution of comprehensive brand PR campaigns and thought leadership initiatives. This could include developing effective communications materials such as PR plans, press releases, media alerts, executive speaking remarks, social media content and other documents for various audiences.
Identify news hooks and agile PR opportunities that support business objectives.
Develop and enhance mutually beneficial relationships among target media.
Coordinate outreach, leveraging key contacts and manage relationships to ensure media coverage across a range of media verticals
Support relationships with third-party influencers that can contribute to and amplify our content. Help develop powerful, dynamic, influencer content that can be adapted and shared across a variety of internal and external channels.
Execute flawless media engagement through comprehensive spokesperson prep, on the ground support, and follow-up
Support media monitoring including circulation of key media clips to internal stakeholders and delivery of a daily media report
Work closely and engage with the Brand organization, and agency partners in support of campaigns and day-to-day activity
Leverage the latest measurement tools and technology to assess effectiveness of ongoing communication activity
Support other tasks as assigned, including researching reputation and risk concerns, etc.
Maintain a deep understanding of the products, services, and priorities of Capital One and Capital One Canada
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
Expert media relations skills
Experience working with multiple constituents, including peers and senior management
Creative, integrative problem-solving and structured thinking
Strong understanding of and experience supporting brand PR efforts across the paid/earned/shared/owned spectrum
Deeply rooted understanding of the public relations industry, and related knowledge of key trade publications, genre publications, and local/national outlets
Role of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in driving brand promise
Self-motivated with strong organizational skills, analytical talent and attention to detail
Excellent presentation skills
Strong project management skills and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
Passion to work as part of a highly collaborative culture, and stay calm under intense pressure to manage rapidly changing priorities
At least 3 years of public relations experience, including thought leadership, consumer media and influencer relations
Bilingual (English and French) capabilities - verbal and written
Ability to submit 1 to 2 writing samples upon request
2-3 years of digital marketing experience with a focus on content development, distribution and analytics
Deep understanding and expertise in executing integrated marketing campaigns to achieve measurable results based on business objectives
Experience working, partnering with and influencing multiple constituents and stakeholders (internal and external), including senior executives
Previous experience in an agency environment, professional services, financial services industry or large, matrix organization is an asset
